Explore Surabaya, Pringgen Safari Park, Bromo, Yogyakarta and Tana Toraja

 

Day 1 – arrival in Jakarta or Bali (Arrival Bali is Better)

Day 2 – Jakarta-Surabaya-Pinggen Safari Park-Bromo

Take a flight to Surabaya. Visit Surabaya port and markets.

Drive toward Mt. Bromo crater and visit the Safari park of Taman (watch here  the Komodo dragon and others). Overnight – hotel in Mt. Bromo..

Day 3 – Bromo Sunrise-Yogyakarta

Early morning sunrise watch on the summit of Bromo volcano. Go up with horses and after it use stairs climbing to the summit. Back to the hotel for late breakfast. After it, drive to Yogyakarta. Night at hotel in Yogyakarta.

Day 4 – Explore Yogyakarta

Visiting Kraton (Sultan’s Palace), Bird Market, Water Castle, Sonobudoyo Museum, Batik Home Industry and Silversmith at Kotagede with its processing and beautiful collections.

Then, drive and visit  at Prambanan Temple . Overnight at a hotel in Yogyakarta.

Day 5 – Explore Yogyakarta

After breakfast take a half day trip to visit Borobudur Temple, a collosal cosmic mountain which is one the most imposing creations of mankind and one of the world’s wonder this temple was build in 8th century with 504 buddha statues. You will also visit other temples nearby such as the Mendut and Pawon temples. After visiting Borobudur , continue driving north to the Gedong Songo village. Have lunch at local home in that village  and watch a ceremony/performance of expelling the bad spirits (the participants are in trance). Evening- back to Yogyakarta and overnight in Yogyakarta hotel.

Day 6 – Yogyakarta-Makassar

Morning: continue the Yogyakarta City tour/or other activities to be offered. Afternoon: Transfer to the airport and take a flight to Makassar ( Makassar also known as Ujung Pandang is the capital of Sulawesi island ,has a port and located in south Sulawesi). Transfer to hotel and overnight at Ujung Pandang.

Day 7 – Ujung Pandang- Rantepao. (NOTE: There a flight Makassar to Toraja, every Thursday)

Driving 8 hours toward Rantepao,the gateway to Tana Toraja (land of the Torajan people),through mountains,valleys and rice terraces. To avoide the long drive check possibility for a flight (there are 2 flights a week ,one on Tuesday and one on Friday,with Sabang Merauke Air Charter-SMAC ? ). Overnight at hotel. in Rantepao. Check if funeral is planned for tomorrow.

Day 8  – Explore Rantepao (Tana Toraja)

Visit several villages that have maintained their traditional houses and unique gravesits,as well as rice fields.  Visiting the cliff-side stone grave with wooden effigies on the balcony at LEMO, The royal family tombs at SUAYA, The baby grave in the huge tree at KAMBIRA and Cultural performace at SANGALLA. Lunch will be served at local restaurant in Rantepao. After lunch, visiting the natural cave at LONDA and then proceed to the traditional wooden carving village at KETE KESU. Overnight at hotel. in Rantepao.

Day 9 – Explore Rantepao (Tana Toraja)

After breakfast at hotel- second full day excursion, visiting the most beautiful village with buffalo horns in front off their houses at PALAWA. The Traditional cotton weaving village at SA’DAN, The ancient megalithic stone at BORI and then proceed to SESEAN mount to view the large rice-field terrace at BATUTUMONGA and Lunch will be served on this spot. After Lunch, continue to visit the boulder grave at LOKOMATA and then, Take a nice nature-walk from PANA through the rice-field and some village down to TIKALA . From TIKALA village take a drive back to Rantepao for Refreshment. Back to hotel for overnight in Rantepao.

Day 10 – Drive back or FLY to Makassar ( Ujung Pandang). (NOTE: There is a flight from Toraja to Makassar on Friday)

Day 11 – Makassar-Jakarta or Bali.
